Build Your Heaven Before You Build Your Earth

Aug 03, 2026

One of the most profound truths hidden in Scripture is that God created the invisible before He created the visible. Before there was light, there was intention and before there was a garden, there was imagination. Before there was humanity, there was purpose. Creation first existed in the mind of God before it appeared in the hands of God.

I have been reflecting on this principle for the last few days the new Bible I ordered arrived, and one observation continues to challenge me. Every meaningful breakthrough in my life first existed in my inner world. Whenever I have taken time to quietly build a picture of something-held onto it, nurtured it, aligned my actions with it, and refused to let it go, it has eventually found expression in my reality.

This has convinced me of something - Many people are trying to create a better life without first creating a better inner world. We have become prisoners of what our eyes can see. If the bank account is low, we see poverty, if the relationship is struggling, we see failure and if the diagnosis is difficult, we see limitation.

We allow the visible world to dictate the invisible world, but the Kingdom of God teaches the opposite. The unseen gives birth to the seen which was why Paul wrote “We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)

Perhaps the greatest responsibility God has given every human being is the stewardship of their inner world which includes your mind, imagination, beliefs, hope and vision. Because your life will eventually move in the direction of the world you consistently cultivate within.

If there is one question you must stop asking today that question is “What does your life look like? “The deeper question is: “What does your heaven(unseen world) look like?”

Here are five practical steps to begin creating it.

1. See Beyond Your Circumstances - Do not allow today’s reality to become tomorrow’s limitation. Ask yourself: “What would I build if fear did not have a vote?”. This is because vision always begins before evidence.

2. Paint the Picture in Detail - Heaven is not vague neither should your vision be. Describe your future. Write it, draw it and speak it. Create a vision so clear that your mind begins to treat it as familiar.

3. Guard the Gates of Your Inner World - Every conversation, relationship and piece of information is shaping your internal environment. Protect your mind from narratives that continually reinforce fear, scarcity and hopelessness. Your inner world deserves careful stewardship.

4. Align Your Daily Actions with Your Vision - Faith is not passive imagination and Every picture you carry should produce a corresponding habit. Small daily actions are the bridge between the invisible and the visible.

5. Refuse to Let Go Until Reality Catches Up - Great visions are rarely fulfilled overnight so you must master the discipline of holding the picture, reefing and praying over it while working towards it because persistence gives the invisible enough time to become visible.

As you begin this week, remember this:

Your life is not first built with your hands; It is built with your heart, your mind and your imagination.

God created heaven before earth. Perhaps your next breakthrough will begin the same way. Before you change your world create your heaven. Then live every day until your earth begins to resemble it.
