THE POWER OF AN ANCESTOR – 2

Aug 24, 2026

Through the misbehavior of one person, a family can be plunged into a crisis that affects multiple generations until one person rises, takes responsibility for the family, and redefines the future of generations yet unborn.

Last week, we started looking at the power of an ancestor, and today we continue the conversation because, just as wealth is transferred through families across the globe, pain is also transferred through families.

I often tell people that when you are outside the family, you may struggle like everyone else, and your descendants may consistently seek employment. But once you are within a ruling family, what you receive may be appointments, access, opportunities, and inheritance.

This is why I often warn everyone who cares to listen: never become a foot soldier for a political agenda whose covert interests you do not understand, because at the highest levels of expression, politics is mostly about interests.

The curriculum that has been deployed to raise many people is not necessarily in their best interests because it is often a generic curriculum designed to make people fit into existing systems. If you are a keen observer, you will notice that the rules taught to the masses are not always the same rules by which the ruling class plays. This is why you must embrace a curriculum that forever takes your generation off the menu and gives them a place at the table.

So Here Are 5 Steps You Must Take This Week

1. Become the Apostle of Peace

Stop asking who offended whom first because somebody has to become more committed to the future than to winning yesterday’s argument. Make the call. Start the conversation. Reopen the door. You don’t have to abandon boundaries to become a peacemaker. But refuse to become another carrier of generational resentment.

2. Create a Family Council

Families need a table before they need a crisis.

Start bringing key family members together intentionally, even if it is quarterly. You can begin with those of like mind within your own family. Discuss relationships, children, elderly parents, opportunities, challenges, family assets, and the future. Don’t wait until there is a funeral before everybody gathers.

A good starting point is to conduct a family audit so you can understand the true state of your family system. You can visit oyela.ai to assess your current position.

3. Write Down Your Family Operating System

This is one critical area many families lack, and you must master it as a matter of urgency.

What does your family stand for?

What are your values?

What behavior is unacceptable?

How are disputes resolved?

How do you support a struggling family member?

How will wealth be transferred?

How will children understand where they came from?

These are critical questions you must answer in your quest to build a governance system capable of changing the trajectory of your family. This is one of the critical reasons we are creating a new community strictly for the intensive work of building thriving families and moving your family from assumptions to agreements.

4. Build Across Generations

Don’t build only sibling relationships. You must connect grandparents to grandchildren. Connect cousins to cousins. Tell stories that create family traditions while documenting your history.

Teach the younger generation about the sacrifices that created the opportunities they now enjoy because a family that loses its story eventually loses part of its identity.

5. Think Like an Ancestor

Before making major decisions, begin asking:

“If my grandchildren reproduce this decision, what kind of family will exist 50 years from now?”

That question changes everything because ancestors don’t merely optimize for today; They engineer tomorrow.

Your Family Can Begin Again

The truth is that your family can begin again. Maybe you didn’t inherit an Adeleke-type family structure. That’s okay.

Maybe your family story contains divorce, abandonment, sibling rivalry, poverty, addiction, secrets, inheritance battles, or decades of resentment.

Your history does not have to become your prophecy. Every great family system had a generation in which somebody established a marker. Someone said: “From here, we build differently.”

Why can’t that person be you?

Why can’t your grandchildren one day gather and trace the culture of unity in your family back to a decision you made in 2026?

Why can’t they say:

“Something changed when Grandma rose.”

“Something changed when Dad called everyone together.”

“Something changed when our aunt refused to continue the feud.”

“Something changed when our grandfather created the family council.”

That is the power of an ancestor.

An ancestor is not merely someone behind you. An ancestor is someone who takes responsibility for generations they may never live to see.

Will you become the apostle of peace and unity who defines the next chapter of your ancestry?

Someone must lay down the marker.

Maybe that someone is you.

And if you are that one person who has chosen to take responsibility for the future of your ancestry, you can join the waitlist for our Family House Community, where we begin the intensive work of intentionally creating the future of families.
